1. Fourth Degree History and Purpose

  • Formed February 22, 1900
  • Purpose is to demonstrate patriotism
  • Represents the VISIBLE arm of the Knights of Columbus via the Color Corps. Appears at parades, attends Funerals, escorts the Bishop, appears at special events.

2. Father Phillip Grant Assembly 3272

  • Formed on January 10, 2011
  • One of four assemblies in the Grand Strand area.
  • Business Meeting the 4th Thursday of every month, at Precious Blood or St. Mary's.
  • Socials in the  month of no business meeting.
  • Membership of over 120 Sir Knights from 2 councils

3. Membership Requirements

  • Must be a Knight for one year, a Third Degree in good standing at the time of Exemplification (priest and Military are exempted) (six months membership will be considered providing a waiver has been requested and approved by the Supreme Office)

  • The official dress for candidates for the Fourth Degree Exemplification shall be black bow tie, white straight collar shirt, black tuxedo shoes and black tuxedo. A member serving in the armed forces of his country shall be considered in proper attire when dressed in military uniform.

  • The dress of the Fourth Degree shall consist of the official dress and social baldric.

4. Myths about the Fourth Degree to be dispelled.

  • New members do not have to purchase Regalia or participate in the Color Corps. It is strictly voluntary. However, it is an honor.
  • Membership in the Fourth Degree DOES NOT detract from each member’s Council involvement.

5. Reasons for joining the Fourth Degree

  • To show both a personal and group commitment to patriotism and to support our American way of life.
  • Presents an opportunity to establish and strengthen liaisons with Brother Knights from other councils.
  • Affords each Sir Knight the opportunity to participate in the Color Corps.
  • Provides camaraderie with good Catholic gentlemen.
  • Provides visible support of our church and country through participation in the Color Corps.
  • Provides a completion of all degree steps. Makes you a more complete Knight.
  • Provides you with either a perpetual masses after your death.
